Tony Blair has seeked to diffuse a growing parents' revolt over their concerns of their children's consumption of school dinners.

With recent broadcasts such as Jamie's School Dinners, the graphics of the program hit home hard that the junk our children happily eat on a daily basis.  With reports of the government talking about the growing epidemic of obesity in children it's any wonder that they have not made more of an effort to rectify the problem.

Nearly 130,000 people have signed petitions in response, and the demand of more nutritious meals.  Schools spend on average 37p a child per day, a quarter of that spent on prisoners.
